Cutting the Mom Guilt: How to feed your kid healthfully
It is not easy to raise little kids these days.
We have the pressures of making sure we do not yell. Never lose our cool in public. Don’t give our kids too much screen time. Also got to praise them, make them do work, teach them skills…. The list goes on and on and on.
In fact, last week my mom commented about what it was like to raise me and my sisters back in the day: “there was a whole lot less pressure. You kids ate things like Tang, Kool-Aid, Pringles, Oreos, and other white refined grains because we were told that was healthier.”
Now while we know now that all of these things are not the best for you, isn’t it crazy some days being a mom because well …. There are soooo many things that we can do wrong.
So if “too much of that will kill ya” wouldn’t it be nice to know how to give our kids healthy food without breaking the bank. And still be able to feel like a good parent at the end of the day.
So here are a few tips mom:
Whole grain is the best option when you go for any kind of snack food like Teddy Grahams, Goldfish and more.
Just because it is organic does not mean it is healthy.
Fruit snacks will never have nutrition in them. Get dried fruit instead.
Fruit is a great snack but add something like peanut butter or cheese to it and your kid won’t be hungry 10 minutes later.
A half of a sandwich qualifies as a great snack.
Yogurt is better when it is Greek yogurt and has less than 7 grams of sugar.
So the next time someone tries to tell you “girl do not use that … it is bad for you and your family … or too much of that will kill you.” Take a deep breath and remember these tips for choosing healthy foods cause too much guilt … that will kill ya.
